G-Dragon apologized to fans for a significant delay at his recent concert, which started a whopping 1 hour and 13 minutes later than scheduled.
On March 29, the K-pop icon kicked off his world tour, ‘G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Übermensch] IN KOREA’, at Goyang Stadium. Presented by Coupang Play, this was his first solo concert after around 8 years.
As previously reported, tickets for shows were sold in 16.5 minutes. Fans were excited and looking forward to seeing G-Dragon perform on stage after a long wait.
However, the evening got off to a rocky start as severe weather conditions forced a 73-minute delay. As a result, the original 6:30 PM start time was pushed to 7:43 PM. Fans had to wait for over an hour to see the BIGBANG leader perform on stage.
On March 30, his agency Galaxy Corporation released an official statement to apologize to the fans. The statement reads,
“We are providing an update regarding the delay of the “G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Übermensch] IN KOREA, presented by Coupang Play” held on the 29th. The concert was delayed once due to safety concerns due to bad weather conditions (gusts of wind) at the venue. The concert was further delayed as a result.
This was due to the extreme cold, dropping below freezing, on the day of the concert, as well as heavy snow and rain that started in the morning, followed by strong gusts of wind in the afternoon. G-DRAGON was at the venue all day, including a sound check at 2 pm, monitoring the weather conditions.
Despite this, the decision was made to postpone the concert for safety reasons, as using the planned stage equipment could have posed a risk to the audience. We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to express our sincere gratitude and apologies to all fans who waited for a long time in the cold.”
G-Dragon performed his newest and classic hits during the first concert of his world tour including “POWER”, “TOO BAD”, “HOME SWEET HOME” “One of a Kind”, “Who You”, and more. 2NE1’s CL also joined the 36-year-old K-pop star on stage in the opening night of his tour.
She has previously also performed with him during the first show of his previous tours “Shine a Light” (2009), “One of a Kind” (2013), and “Act III: M.O.T.TE”. The duo energized the crowd with their performance of the song “The Leaders”.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon will hold the second ‘Übermensch’ show in Seoul today, March 30 at 6:30 PM. Next, he will tour Tokyo (May 10-11), Bulacan (May 17), Osaka (May 25-26), and other cities.
