(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon Hints at Contract Expiration in November During Seoul Concert, Agency Responds

(G)I-DLE Soyeon at Seoul Concert

Soyeon, the leader of K-pop group (G)I-DLE, recently dropped a bombshell during the Seoul show: her contract with Cube Entertainment is set to end in November.

On August 3, (G)I-DLE kicked off their third world tour ‘iDOL’ at KSPO Dome in Songpa-gu Seoul.

During the solo performance, when Soyeon was performing Is this bad b****** number?, a collab song with Lee Youngji and BIBI, she unexpectedly changed the rap lyrics to hint at contract expiration.

In the new verse, she goes, “F*ck my contract that ends in November”, drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd. It also left many fans wondering that she might not extend her contract and pursue solo activities outside of Cube Entertainment.

Responding to the queries after her performance, Cube Entertainment stated, “All members are due to renew their contracts next year, and Jeon Soyeon’s claim to extend her contract in the 2nd half of this year is just part of the lyric performance.”

Previously, it was revealed that the agency has raised around 36.5 billion won as they prepare to negotiate contract expansion with (G)I-DLE. Since (G)I-DLE is the only successful artist they have and with many artists leaving the agency in recent months, Cube Entertainment can not afford to lose them.

After wrapping their Seoul concerts on August 4, (G)I-DLE is embarking on a world tour to meet their fans in 14 cities globally. The tour will visit major cities in Asia, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok, and Macau, as well as cities in the United States, such as Tacoma, Oakland, Anaheim, Houston, and more.
