It seems like Soyeon has found a new way to express her emotions through her rap!
The (G)I-DLE leader has been spilling tea and taking digs through her performances lately.
On the final day of the MAMA Awards 2024, (G)I-DLE took the stage and performed their hit tracks “Super Lady” and “Fate” from the album “2.”
Soyeon changed the lyrics of her rap once again to address (G)I-DLE disbandment rumors and contract status, She also took a subtle dig at ex-bandmate Soojin.
She changed the verse mentioning Soojin, “In 2021 you said this, right? / You said, what will you all become without Soojin?”
Soojin temporarily suspended activities in March 2021 after being accused of school violence and bullying. (G)I-DLE continued their journey with 5 members when she left the group for good in August 2021.
Her contract with Cube Entertainment is ending this month, the 26-year-old singer is unlikely to renew her contract with the agency. As a result, rumors are circulating that (G)I-DLE might disband if members sign with different agencies.
Soyeon put all the rumors to rest with modified rap lyrics, “What I want to say is / Idle is forever/ so those worries are unnecessary.”
She also set the record straight about her contract renewal with Cube Entertainment, “Contract termination/ whatever the company decides to do / If I had been influenced by things like that / I wouldn’t have made it this far.”
When the group kicked off their world tour iDOL in August, Soyeon hinted at her contract ending in November, which Cube Entertainment initially denied. After fans and the K-pop star herself criticized the agency, they apologized and acknowledged that her contract expires in November.
On another note, (G)I-DLE won Best Vocal Performance (Group) and Fans’ Choice at the MAMA Awards 2024.
