After the public spat between (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon and Cube Entertainment, it seems unlikely that she will renew her contract with her longtime agency.
As per music industry sources on August 8, the (G)I-DLE leader is already looking for a new agency and has received offers from many.
It is also reported that she is eyeing HYBE’s label, KOZ Entertainment, led by Zico. KOZ Entertainment also manages the popular boy group BOYNEXTDOOR.
There were rumors that Soyeon might be leaving her current company, Cube Entertainment, to join KOZ Entertainment. This speculation started when she showed a close friendship with KOZ’s founder, Zico, on his TV show called ‘The Seasons: Zico’s Artist‘.
Also, KOZ recently created a new team, and some people think she might be part of it. Adding to the rumors, the team she used to work with at Cube is now collaborating with KOZ, which makes people think she might make the switch.
As per reports, she is also reported to be approached by Big Plant Made Entertainment. Big Planet Made Entertainment manages VIVIZ, SHINee’s Taemin, Lee Seung Gi, and more.
However, both agencies have refused to comment on signing a contract with her.
Jeon Soyeon subtly revealed her contract expiration in November during the group’s third world tour solo stage at KSPO DOME in Seoul on August 3. She hinted at her upcoming contract renewal by singing modified lyrics: Contract expiration in November, who’s stopping me?
Cube Entertainment first refused the contract expiration rumors, saying it was just part of the performance. Later, after Soyeon criticized the agency for lying about not being aware of the rap, the agency apologized.
It is not yet clear if she will leave (G)I-DLE or sign a contract for individual activities with another agency.
