Girls’ Generation’s Yuri May Get Fined up to 1 Million Won for Reckless Behavior on Jeju Island

Kwon Yuri, a member of the K-pop group Girls’ Generation, is facing backlash and a potential fine of up to 1 million won after sharing photos of herself posing on a dangerous coastal structure during a trip to Jeju Island.

Despite safety regulations, the 34-year-old singer was seen standing and lying down on a tetrapod by the coastline.

On July 24, Yuri shared a glimpse into her Jeju Island getaway with a brief caption, PARTY. However, the photos she posted showed her standing and lounging on the Tetrapod structure by the beach.

Tetrapod is a concrete structure that blocks waves, but it’s extremely slippery and has big gaps, making it easy to fall and hard to escape if something goes wrong. This makes it a very dangerous place with a high risk of serious injury or death.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has set a 1 million won penalty for Tetra Pod trespassers, so it is likely that she may face a fine for his reckless behavior.

On the work front, Yuri appeared in the movie Dolphin which was released in theaters on March 13, 2024.
