Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has broken his silence regarding the recent prostitution controversy. Once again he firmly denied all allegations of illegal activities while announcing legal action against malicious media reports. In a strongly-worded statement, the idol also disputes his agency’s claims about contract termination.
Haknyeon claimed that he was forced to leave the group and never agreed to contract termination. Another bombshell revelation made by him was that ONE HUNDRED offered him to pay 2 billion won to leave THE BOYZ and the company, which he did not accept. Here is a complete statement shared by him on Instagram an hour ago
Hello, this is Ju Haknyeon.
Even though I have already clearly stated that I have not engaged in any illegal activities, I will take all possible legal action—both civil and criminal—against certain reporters and media outlets who continue to publish malicious articles.
If there is any evidence that I engaged in prostitution, please make it public immediately.
Also, I have not withdrawn from the team, nor have I ever agreed to terminate my exclusive contract.
Despite the fact that there are no grounds for contract termination as stated in the contract, my agency is trying to fabricate reasons to make it seem as if there are. Some media outlets are also damaging my reputation by carelessly mentioning prostitution without any factual basis.
The agency demanded more than 2 billion KRW in compensation and told me to leave the company, but I never accepted this.
Even so, the agency informed the media that the contract termination had been finalized. This is a blatant falsehood.
I want to ask: is it truly the responsibility of an agency—whose job is to protect its artists—to unilaterally expel me from the team and pressure me to terminate my contract, simply because I happened to be present at a private gathering with a famous person, all while demanding over 2 billion KRW in damages?
When I refused to accept the contract termination, the agency sent me a certified letter without following the procedures clearly outlined in the contract. The letter claimed the contract was terminated due to my fault and even warned of potential damages.
To be honest, I am very scared.
But I thought that if I give in here, our society might become a place where people with nothing can be crushed for things they didn’t even do.
I have quietly endured until now, believing that the truth would eventually come to light. However, facing these attempts to destroy me over something I never did, I now realize that I can no longer stay silent.
I intend to hold my agency fully accountable for unfairly expelling me from the team and falsely claiming contract termination without any valid basis.
I will also pursue responsibility to the very end against some media outlets that have mentioned prostitution based on unverified information and have caused me harm.
No matter what happens, I will fight to reveal the truth until the very end.
I hope that this fight can become a small source of hope for someone, and with that thought, I am gathering my courage.
Ju Hankyeon, June 20, 2025
On June 18, Ju Haknyeon went on hiatus for “personal reasons,” and two days later, he was removed from the group by ONE HUNDRED. Japanese magazine Shukan Bunshun reported that he was spotted at Tokyo’s Roppongi district on May 30 with former adult video actress Asuka Kirara. The media outlet accused him of paying Kirara for sexual services.
When the news was made public on June 18, ONE HUNDRED removed him from the group and Haknyeon apologized to fans via a handwritten letter while firmly denying prostitution. Today, police launched a full-scale investigation into the serious claims after the complaint was filed on June 19. If proven guilty, he may receive a 1-year prison term or a fine up to 3 million KRW.
