Lee Hyeri is considering a role in the new romance drama Dreaming of You (working title).
According to a report on July 24 by World Biz & Sports World, the Girl’s Day member-turned-actress was approached for the female lead role of Lee Jae, a 30-something reporter.
Dreaming of You follows the stories of several characters at different stages of life. It includes a woman in her 30s who once chased a dream in her youth but now lives an ordinary life, and a man in his 30s who has achieved his dream.
The characters also include a disillusioned 20-year-old, a teenager raised to follow a path laid out by his parents, and another 20-year-old stepping into the real world for the first time.
The drama is written by Jung Eunbi, who previously wrote The Beauty Inside and Doom at Your Service.
Hwang In Youp has been cast as the male lead, Subin, a film director. His previous roles include True Beauty, 18 Again, Why Her, and The Sound of Magic.
His most recent drama, Family by Choice, concluded on November 27, 2025. It centered on a group of unrelated individuals who form a family-like bond. He played a man confronting emotional trauma and personal growth while navigating this non-traditional family dynamic.
Actress Lee Yoo Mi was originally in talks for the female lead but ultimately did not join the project.
Hyeri recently returned to TV with Friendly Rivalry, her first drama in three years. She played high school student Yoo Jae Yi in the GL, teen mystery thriller. The drama earned strong reviews and grabbed attention for its portrayal of intense friendships among girls. The show was especially popular in Chinese-speaking countries.
Hyeri made her debut in 2010 with Girl’s Day and has since taken lead roles in several dramas, including Reply 1988, My Roommate Is a Gumiho, and more. She is currently celebrating her 15th debut anniversary with a solo fan meeting tour.
In related news, Hwang In Youp will be seen in a guest role in the drama, Dear X, this year. Hyeri will star in the action movie Night Fever, which also stars Woo Do Hwan and Park Sung Hoon.
