Hyun Bin is returning to the small screen with one of the biggest Korean drama projects ever made. His new series, Made in Korea, is already getting huge attention because of its massive budget and the intense story set in the 1970s.

The show is reported to have a production budget of around 70 billion won, which is about 48 million dollars. It will also be the second time Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung share screen, which is another reason fans are excited. Previously, Jung made a cameo in Hyun Bin’s film, “Harbin,” earlier this month.

‘Made in Korea’ Release Date

‘Made in Korea’ starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung will premiere on December 24, 2025. Disney+ has already shown strong confidence in the project by renewing it for a second season.  The second season is scheduled for the second half of 2026. Season 1 will have six episodes.

The first two episodes will drop together on Christmas Eve, and the remaining episodes will be released weekly after that. The show will stream exclusively on Disney+, including the Hulu hub for viewers in the United States.

Plot Overview

Made in Korea is a political drama and crime noir set in the 1970s, a time when South Korea was going through major political and social changes. The story follows two men whose lives collide in a dangerous and dramatic way.

Hyun Bin plays Baek Ki Tae, a KCIA agent who secretly works as a smuggler. He uses his illegal activities to gain power inside the agency to build wealth and influence.

Jung Woo Sung plays Jang Geon Young, a prosecutor known for his sharp instincts and fierce determination. He is determined to stop Ki Tae, no matter the cost. Their battle plays out alongside real historical events from Korea’s modern era.

Cast Lineup

Besides Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung, the additional cast members include

  • Woo Do Hwan plays Baek Ki Hyeon, Ki-tae’s younger brother, who works as an elite military officer.
  • Won Ji An appears as Choi Yoo Ji, though details about her character are still being kept quiet.
  • Seo Eun Soo plays Oh Ye-jin, a detective who also works as Geon Young’s secretary.
  • Jo Yeo Jeong plays Bae Geum Ji, a powerful chief secretary.
  • Jung Sung Il takes on the role of Chun Seok Joong
  • Cha Hee plays Baek So Young, who is Ki Tae’s younger sister
  • Lee Joo Yeon plays Jang Hye-eun, Geon Young’s younger sister
  • Park Yong Woo plays Hwang Guk-pyeong, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency and Ki Tae’s direct superior.

Made in Korea Trailer

The teaser trailer was first revealed during the “Disney+ Original Preview 2025” event in Hong Kong. The teaser perfectly captures the high-stakes battle between the two powerful men.

The teaser poster features a striking black-and-white silhouette of Hyun Bin. Through his cold narration, he lays out the heart of the story: “This is a fight where someone has to die. And that won’t be me.”

Production Team

The creative team behind ‘Made in Korea’ is just as strong as the cast. The director is Woo Min Ho, who is respected for his political and crime films. His directing credits include “Harbin,” “Inside Men,” “The Drug King,” and more. This marks his first time directing a drama series. His past films often explore power, corruption, and political tension, which makes him a perfect match for this project.

The script is written by Park Eun Gyo and Park Joon Suk. Park Eun Gyo wrote the Netflix series The Silent Sea and the film Mother, while Park Joon Suk wrote the film A Normal Family. The music is composed by Jo Yeong Wook, who has worked on major films directed by Park Chan Wook, including Old Boy and The Handmaiden.

The show is produced by Hive Media Corp, the company behind major box office hits such as 12.12: The Day, The Man Standing Next, and Inside Men.
