It is a bittersweet coincidence that two K-pop idols iKON’s DK (Kim Donghyuk) and ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo—will begin their mandatory military service on the same day. Both artists will enlist in late July.
While Cha Eunwoo’s mandatory military service details were announced last month, 143 Entertainment announced DK’s military enlistment schedule today (June 9). Coincidentally, they will be serving as ARMY band members.
iKON DK’s Enlistment Details and Final Fan Preparations
DK, iKON’s main dancer and vocalist, will join the Army Military Band as an active-duty soldier on July 28.
The 28-year-old idol received his acceptance notice from the Military Manpower Administration. His agency, 143 Entertainment, confirmed the enlistment date and emphasized that no public event will be held due to safety concerns.
DK (Kim Donghyuk) has applied to the Army’s military band and recently received a final acceptance notice from the Military Manpower Administration. Accordingly, he is scheduled to enlist as an active-duty soldier on July 28th to fulfill his military service obligation.
As the day of entering the recruit training center is a gathering attended by many soldiers and their families, no separate event will be held to prevent safety accidents.
Donghyuk had already bid an emotional farewell to fans during his “Dong Dong Ajito” fan meetings in Tokyo and Osaka on March 20 and 22.
He is the fourth iKON member to enlist after Bobby, Jay, Song, and Chan. Jay was discharged in April this year, whereas Chan and Bobby will complete military service on November 26, 2025, and December 3, 2025. Song will return to civilian life on February 12, 2026.
Cha Eunwoo to Enlist on July 28
While DK’s enlistment was publicly announced today, Cha Eunwoo’s enlistment date was confirmed by his agency, Fantagio, last month. The ASTRO member will also serve as a military band member after completing basic training.
He will complete the filming of his movie, First Ride, fashion commitments, and other unreleased projects before enlistment. Cha Eunwoo has already wrapped the filming schedule for his upcoming drama, The WONDERfools, with Park Eunbin, releasing on Netflix next year.
Since DK and Cha Eunwoo are enlisting on July 28, 2025, they are expected to be discharged on January 27, 2025.
