A man in his 20s who pretended to be BTS’ SUGA and V has been sentenced to prison after the first trial.
On January 24th, Judge Ham Hyeon-ji from the Criminal Division 27 of the Seoul Central District Court gave a one-year prison sentence to Mr. A, who is in his 20s. The charges against him include violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.
Back in 2022, Mr. A pretended to be SUGA. It turns out that while he was chatting with producer B, he actually got his hands on an unreleased guide sound source from B.
In that same year, Mr. A went even further and pretended to be Mr. B to contact SUGA. During their conversations, Mr. A managed to gather information about the album preparations, the anticipated release date, and even details about SUGA’s military service and enlistment.
Well, there’s more, Mr. A pretended to be V as well. It was found that he got his hands on more than 10 unreleased guide sound files from another producer.
Mr. A is facing charges for illegally obtaining undisclosed information about his agency’s album release, unreleased sound sources, personal information of the agency’s singers, and even their schedules.
Mr. A is a renowned music producer who has worked on songs for idol groups in the past. He recently submitted an appeal to the court on January 23rd because he wasn’t satisfied with the ruling from the first trial.
