ITZY has signed a contract extension with JYP Entertainment, their agency since their debut. The label announced on September 20 that all five members—Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna—have signed new contracts ahead of the expiration of their current exclusive agreements early next year.
JYPE expressed gratitude to the members for continuing their journey together, stating, “This meaningful step was made possible by the unwavering commitment of all five members, who have consistently dedicated themselves to sharing their growth with fans every step of the way.”
They explained that the renewal was completed in advance based on mutual trust, adding that the company would continue to provide full support for ITZY.
The announcement was first shared directly by ITZY themselves at their fourth official fan meeting, ITZY The 4th Fan Meeting ITZY MIDZY, Fly! “ON AIR”, held in Seoul, today.
The members expressed gratitude to their fans, known as MIDZY, saying that their journey so far was possible because of the love and support they had received. They also promised to continue moving forward together toward a brighter future.
ITZY leader Yeji shared, “I saw you guys were getting scared, so I had to say it. We wanted to announce this news where MIDZY would gather, since it is a really important day for us as well.”
She added, “As time went by, I got to feel more about MIDZY’s love and existence. Yes, and you always stay by our side, so thank you so much. We always wonder how we show more of ourselves to you, and we do our best preparing for it, so thank you so much for loving even our imperfections.”
Since their debut in February 2019, ITZY has built a reputation as “performance queens.” The group quickly swept rookie awards and has since delivered a steady list of hits, including DALLA DALLA, WANNABE, and LOCO.
On the global stage, ITZY has made notable achievements on the U.S. Billboard charts. Their mini album GUESS WHO entered the Billboard 200, while their follow-up release CHECKMATE reached No. 8 on the same chart. In 2024, ITZY completed their second world tour, BORN TO BE, which featured 32 concerts across 28 regions worldwide. Looking ahead, ITZY is set to meet fans in Japan, with a fan meeting in Tokyo from October 11 to 13.
Meanwhile, JYP artists Stray Kids and DAY6 previously signed early contract renewals, and now TWICE is next. Talks are underway, and an official announcement is expected sometime around October 20, their 10th debut anniversary.
Fans of JYP Entertainment have more to look forward to, as the company’s artists are confirmed to guest on the hit variety show The Game Caterers.
