ITZY’s Yuna Reflects on Her Time as a Trainee, Debut, and Cover of Jennie’s ‘You & Me’ [VIDEO]

Yuna of ITZY

Yuna from ITZY recently shared her experiences as a trainee and her debut in an interview. She talked about the challenges she faced during her training period.

Recently, she appeared on the Radio Star YouTube show and opened up about various things with Jang Do Yeon and Kim Gook Jin.

Regarding her time as a trainee, Yuna shared, “K tried so hard to make my debut. And after my debut, I practiced so hard not to be a burden to my team.”

She went on to say, “To be honest, I was always below average back in the day,” and added, “You get these monthly reports when you’re a trainee at JYP and I was never on top of the rank.” She revealed that other ITZY members were always in the Top 10 in JYP’s monthly reports.

Yuna shared that she was not part of the original lineup at the time of the announcement, “When the first members of ITZY were chosen, I was worried that I might not make the cut and never be able to make my debut.”

During the interview, Yuna revealed that she was in her third year as a trainee and on the verge of starting high school. She shared that if she couldn’t make it onto the team, she had considered quitting and focusing on her studies instead.

Then, she was ‘suddenly’ chosen as the ITZY member. After making the team, she shared, “Once I joined the team, I had so many things to catch up, so I felt so nervous about it. I tried so hard to not be a burden to the team.”

Yuna added, “All the songs that ITZY did, every one of them was so hard for me.”

In December last year, Yuna did a cover of BLACKPINK Jennie’s You & Me at SBS Gayo Daejeon. When asked about her solo stage, Yuna expressed her gratitude saying, “I’m just grateful that many people enjoyed it. I am just happy that many people liked my solo stage.”
