One thing for sure, IU knows how to tap the biggest K-pop artists to star in her video, especially the ones about to enlist in the military.
The idol actress, whose real name is Lee Ji Eun, is making a musical comeback after over a year.
On May 12, TenAsia exclusively reported that IU is making a comeback in May, and Cha Eunwoo will star in the music video. Shortly after the TenAsia report, it was confirmed by her agency, EDAM Entertainment, that the 31-year-old is preparing for a musical release.
The label stated, “IU is preparing a new album with a goal of releasing it in May. Cha Eunwoo will be making a cameo appearance.” The K-pop duo previously broke the internet with their Chaumet photoshoot, and since then, UAENAs and AROHAs are hoping for another collab. Their wishes have been answered as IU and Cha Eunwoo will be teaming up once again.
It has been over a year since she last released new music; her 6th mini-album “The Winning” dropped on February 20, 2024. The album featured an emotional ballad, “Love Wins All,” which starred BTS’ V (Kim Taehyung) in its cinematic music video. V completed the filming for the MV before his military enlistment in December 2023.
Cha Eunwoo applied for the Army band on May 9 and will possibly enlist in July. The interview results will be revealed on May 9, but the announcement will likely be made at ASTRO’s 4th solo concert, “Stargraphy.” Before his impending enlistment, the “True Beauty” actor recently wrapped the filming of his drama “The WONDERfools” and is now filming the movie “First Ride.”
Beyond music, IU has built an impressive acting career. After early roles in “Dream High” (2011) and “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” (2016), she delivered a critically acclaimed performance in “My Mister” (2018). More recently, she starred in Netflix’s “When Life Gives You Tangerines” alongside Park Bo Gum. Premiered in March, the drama became a phenomenon for its emotional storyline.
Before she begins filming for her next acting project, IU will release an album, as fans have been waiting for over a year. Her next acting venture will be the MBC Friday-Saturday drama “Wife of a 21st Century Prince”, slated for release in early 2026. She takes on the role of Sung Hee Joo, the brilliant and fiercely competitive second daughter of Korea’s most powerful business dynasty.
