IU shares her heartfelt gratitude to director Um Tae-hwa and co-star BTS’ V for their collaboration.
On January 28, IU shared a video titled ‘[IU TV] I caught the flu that day’ on her official channel. In the video, she takes us behind the scenes of the music video shoot for her pre-released song Love Wins All.
The music video for Love Wins All gained a lot of attention because it featured V from BTS and was directed by Uhm Tae-hwa, who also directed the movie Concrete Utopia released last year.
When IU was asked about the process leading up to the release of this album, she said, “Director Um Tae-hwa decided to take on the MV. Director Um Tae-hwa has such a hectic schedule, he is always at overseas film festivals. He’s buried in work but he decided to take this work with nothing but his enthusiasm.”
Regarding collaboration with BTS’ V, IU shared, “V is also up to his ears.” She continued, “As of today, he has only a week to enlist in the military. It’s a ridiculous schedule, luckily, we were able to work the schedule.”
She continued, “I think I am using all the fortune I got from having kind friends on this album.
IU also shared how they ended up casting V in the music video, “I was talking with Director Um Tae-hwa and we were discussing the male lead.” Director Um Tae-hwa suggested, “He has to possess the boyish charm, however, he must give off a very cool and reliable feeling after the transformation.”
She further revealed, “By chance, around that time, I needed to contact V about something.” Then, IU sent V the music which he loved and ended up starring in the music video.
