Superstar singer and actress, IU, makes a blazing entry into Melon’s ‘Top 100’ chart, Korea’s biggest music platform, with her highly-anticipated comeback track, Love Wins All, released after a gap of 2 years and 1 month since her last release.
IU’s pre-release song, Love Wins All, which she dropped at 6 PM on January 24th, claimed the top spot on Melon’s ‘Top 100’ by 7 PM the same day.
Melon’s ‘Top 100’ ranking takes into account both the 24-hour usage and the most recent hour usage. Since it reflects the overall popularity over a day, it’s quite uncommon for a new song to climb to the top within just an hour of its release.
IU has become the first female singer to reach the ‘Top 100’ in just one hour since Melon changed their chart system in August 2021. Not only that, but she’s also the second artist overall, after the global supergroup BTS, to achieve this feat. BTS did it with their song Yet To Come back in June 2022.
Before enlisting last month, BTS member V made an appearance in the MV to support Love Wins All. Even though he didn’t sing, his involvement raised expectations for the song’s performance on overseas charts.
