The new drama Pig Pen, helmed by writer-director Kim Sang Man, has locked in its cast, including Jang Ki Yong, Cha Seung Won, Park Hee Soon, Roh Jeong Eui, and Kim Dae Myung.
As per the official announcement on August 19, with casting complete, filming is now underway, and the drama is set to premiere in 2025.
Pig Pen is a gripping mystery thriller adapted from the popular Naver webtoon. The creative team includes Kim Carnby, writer of Sweet Home, and director Kim Sang Man, who previously worked on Netflix’s War and Revolt with Park Chan Wook, took charge of directing and writing the screenplay.
Jang Ki Yong plays Jin Woo, a character who loses his memory and finds himself on a strange island. To escape his bizarre family, Jin Woo must uncover his hidden memories and face dark secrets.
Cha Seung Won stars as “the owner”, a charismatic figure who runs a remote island pension and claims to be guided by God’s voice.
The cast also includes Park Hee Soon as Bae Jeong Ho, a desperate father searching for his missing son; Roh Jeong Eui as Romi, the enigmatic eldest daughter of the pension’s owner; and Kim Dae Myung as Jin Tae Hee, a suspicious worker at the pension, whose true intentions are unclear.
Studio N, the production company behind p, has a strong history of turning webtoons into successful live-action series. They have already done this with several popular shows, including Sweet Home, Yumi’s Cells, Vigilante, Bloodhounds, and The 8 Show.
