The Welcome to Samdal-ri actor Ji Chang Wook apologized for the indoor smoking controversy.
On February 11, Spring Company mentioned that the production content featured a scene of Ji Chang Wook using an indoor electronic cigarette. They expressed their apologies to everyone who felt uncomfortable.
The agency also issued another apology, stating that Ji Chang Wook acknowledged that his behavior was inappropriate. They expressed their sincere apologies for disappointing many people.
The issue arose from the behind-the-scenes video (released on January 26) of JTBC’s drama Welcome to Samdal-ri. In the video, Ji Chang Wook can be seen smoking an electronic cigarette during an indoor rehearsal.
Ji Chang Wook faced even more criticism because he was seen smoking in front of fellow actors Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jae-won. Korean netizens deemed it as “bad manners.”
