The BTS vocalist has made K-pop history as his solo song “Who” became the longest-charting K-pop song on Billboard HOT 100.

As per the latest Billboard chart released on March 17 (local time), Jimin’s lead single “Who” from album “MUSE” has officially spent 33 weeks on the HOT 100 chart. With this achievement, he has surpassed BTS’ explosive hit “Dynamite”, which charted for 32 weeks.

The “Like Crazy” singer broke PSY’s long-standing record on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week, “Who” achieved a major milestone by spending 32nd week on the chart, surpassing “Gangnam Style”‘s record of 31 weeks.

With this latest milestone, the longest charting songs by K-pop acts are:

  1. ‘Who’ by Jimin (33 weeks)
  2. ‘Dynamite’ by BTS (32 weeks)
  3. ‘Gangnam Style’ by PSY (31 weeks)
  4. ‘Cupid’ by FIFTY FIFTY (25 weeks)
  5. ‘APT.’ by Rosé and Bruno Mars (21 weeks)

Jimin released his second mini-album “MUSE” on July 19 while serving in the military. Despite no promotions, the album has achieved unprecedented success. It still has not left major international charts despite several months since its release.

“MUSE” has become a long-charting album on Billboard 200, spending 34 weeks. It entered the Billboard’s main album chart on July 29 last year at No. 2 with 96,000 units.

As of March 15, ‘Who’ ranked No. 83 on the UK Official Singles Chart with a record-breaking 28 weeks on the chart. This surpasses BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ (27 weeks) as the longest-charting K-pop song in the UK since 2014.

Last month, ‘Who’ officially surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify, becoming Jimin’s first solo song to reach this feat.

Previously, ‘Who’ was recognized as the most-streamed K-pop song worldwide in 2024. Moreover, it set another record as the fastest song by a K-pop artist in 2024 to hit 1 billion streams. Notably, it also tied with Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ as the fastest song by a male artist to reach 1 billion streams.

In other news, Jimin will complete his mandatory military service on June 11 and resume solo and BTS activities immediately.

Meanwhile, BTS is gearing up for a major comeback in 2025. With Jin and j-hope already completing their military service, the remaining members – RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – are set to be discharged by June 2025.
