In an exclusive interview for Newtopia (formerly Influenza), BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Park Jeong Min sat down to share their thoughts about their upcoming drama.
On August 17, the first interview was shared by Coupang Play, featuring the leading cast of the show, Jisoo and Park Jeong Min.
They introduced themselves as Jisoo playing the role of Kang Young Joo and Lee Jae Yoon. After seven hard months of filming, Park Jeong Min shared, “I can say that I was very eager to have it edited and completed quickly, so, we could show it to everyone.”
He also talked about the plot of the series, revealing, “Our series ‘Newtopia’ is about a soldier Jae Yoon, and his military girlfriend, Young Joo, who run across zombie-infested Seoul to reach each other.”
They concluded their short nearly 1 minute interview with “See you in 2025 on Coupang Play.”
Previously, Jisoo talked about the challenges they faced while filming Newtopia on Seulgi’s Vacation Life. The shooting started in December and wrapped in July therefore, it got tough for the cast to wear the same clothes and maintain the same hairstyle and weight from December to July.
Newtopia follows the story of Lee Jae Yoon (Park Jeong Min), a soldier who enlisted later than his peers, and is anxious about his future. His girlfriend, Kang Young Joo, is a stunning beauty who was once dubbed the “Goddess of the Engineering Department” in college. Now, she’s a rookie employee at a company.
When a mysterious virus suddenly breaks out, turning people into zombies, Lee Jae Yoon and Kang Young Joo desperately try to reach each other in the zombie-infested streets of downtown Seoul.
The drama is scheduled for broadcast in 2025.
