After RIIZE, SEVENTEEN was honored with a prestigious Certificate of Appreciation from the LA City Council, received by member Joshua.
The Los Angeles-born K-pop artist was honored in a special ceremony on November 8 (local time). His speech in Los Angeles made fans emotional and proud.
Rep. Katie Yaroslavskiy introduced SEVENTEEN as an “incredible K-pop group that has conquered the world.” LA City Council members in attendance included Chairman Marquis Harris-Dawson, Katie Yaroslavsky, John Lee, Tracy Park, and Tim McOscar. Meanwhile, fans showed their support for Joshua by gathering around LA City Hall.
SEVENTEEN was recognized for their outstanding contribution to culture, arts, and community. In his speech, Joshua reminisced about his time in LA, saying, “There are traces of my childhood all over LA, Santa Monica Pier, in particular, is a place that always felt enchanting to a younger me. Even though it was a 2-hour Metro bus ride to get to, strolling along the beach and looking at the ocean made my heart race.”
He added, “To see the LA City Hall, Korea town, and Hollywood all take part in “SEVENTEEN – The City LA” and join us and our fans CARATS in fully enjoying this special last stop of US tour, is an absolute honor and experience I will personally never forget.”
Joshua noted that Los Angeles and SEVENTEEN share a common strength: diversity. SEVENTEEN’s 13 members, with different personalities, unite to create unique music.
On another note, Los Angeles is gearing up for “SEVENTEEN THE CITY LA” (Dec 7-11) with a series of exciting events.
To kick off the celebrations, a launch party took place at Club Academy LA, one of LA’s top clubs.
City-wide promotions include two giant billboards featuring SEVENTEEN’s ads, and the Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel showcasing SEVENTEEN and CARAT logos.
Additional events have been planned, including a fan party at a hotel, limited-edition pop-up stores, and special food and beverage collaborations.
SEVENTEEN’s ‘RIGHT HERE‘ WORLD TOUR IN US concludes with a two-day concert at LA’s BMO Stadium on December 9-10. This will be their first stadium performance in the US and the finale of their North American leg.
