Jung Hae In on Cannes Debut
When asked about his experience watching Veteran 2 at the official screening in the Lumière Grand Theater, he shared, “I usually only watched my acting during the preview, but yesterday was the first time I didn’t do that,” and “I was wondering, ‘When will I see a movie at the Lumière Theater again?”
The Something in the Rain actor went on to say, “I thought I would regret it if I only analyzed ‘how was my acting’. When I watched it like that, time passed quickly.”
Veteran 2 received a standing ovation from the audience who cheered for the actors and director of the movie.
In an interview with another media outlet, he shared that his first trip to Cannes was quite meaningful and he came with a mindset that it was the ‘first and last time.’
Advice From Hwang Jung Min and Any Regrets
Since Hwang Jung Min was attending the prestigious film festival for the fourth time, here’s what he advised Jung Hae In, “I’m nervous too, so don’t feel too pressured about being nervous.”
Meeting Fans
He met enthusiastic fans on the red carpet and even signed a few autographs, however, he regretted not signing all of them. He expressed regret saying, “I couldn’t sign all of them because I had to enter the red carpet together, but if I had been given more time, I would have liked to sign autographs for each and every person who wanted.”
What Moved His Mother to Tears
Jung Hae In attended the Cannes International Film Festival accompanied by his mother. Regarding what made his mother move to tears, he explained that it felt like a puzzle had finally come together. She had been worried about his well-being during filming, especially when he would come home exhausted, and had concerns about his safety in certain scenes.
While watching the movie, she realized that the difficult moments she had witnessed during filming were now part of a cohesive work of art.
Despite trying to appreciate it as a film, she couldn’t help but feel maternal concern, worrying about her son’s character’s fate in the movie. Jung Hae In found her reaction amusing and was touched by her love.
Veteran 2 has been officially selected for the Midnight Screening section at the 2024 Cannes International Film Festival, a prestigious category showcasing popular and highly anticipated films. Notably, Veteran 2 is the only Korean film invited to this year’s festival.
