The day we have all been waiting for is finally here for Jeon Jungkook, our beloved Golden Maknae of BTS, who has officially stepped back into civilian life. The 27-year-old idol completed his mandatory 18-month military service on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, alongside fellow member Park Jimin. V and RM already wrapped their military duties a day prior.
Their discharge leaves only Suga (Min Yoongi) remaining in service (set for release on June 21). With this, BTS is incredibly close to a long-awaited full group reunion.
BTS Jungkook Discharged From the Military
Previously, BTS’ agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, restrained fans from visiting the military bases of the members being discharged. This was to prevent overcrowding and reduce any potential safety risk.
Instead, the press and fans were requested to gather at separate locations to greet them. V and RM greeted the press at the Sports Park in Chuncheon, whereas the discharge ceremony for Jungkook and Jimin was held at Yeoncheon Public Stadium.
Like V and RM, the duo also talked to the press, briefly shared their experiences, and thanked ARMYs for waiting for them.
Jungkook playfully began his speech, saying that he is embarrassed since he did not have makeup on. He further added,
To all the ARMYs who came, thank you for coming to see us as we’re being discharged. I have been officially discharged as of June 11. I hereby report it! It’s been so long since I stood in front of a camera..I didn’t even put on any makeup, so I feel a bit shy and don’t really know what to say.
To the seniors who came before us, the juniors, the officers who work so hard, and everyone who lived with us…thank you for enduring it all. We’re grateful for how well you took care of us.
There were so many things that happened, but I’ll share them gradually and talk about it all during a live broadcast.

Jungkook’s Military Journey
In November 2023, BIGHIT MUSIC officially announced that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook had initiated their military enlistment process.
The “Yes or No” singer officially enlisted for his mandatory military service in South Korea along with fellow BTS member Jimin on December 12, 2023. They underwent basic training and served in the same unit. They entered the 5th Infantry Division’s recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
In March 2024, it was widely reported and later seemed confirmed by Jungkook’s own Weverse message that he was assigned the role of a cook within his military unit. He mentioned doing “thorough cleaning, even up to the ceilings” and said, “I’m cooking well.”
What’s Next for BTS Jungkook
Jungkook will likely continue his journey as a solo performer since no immediate BTS activities are planned. He will likely release his sophomore album, nearly two years after his debut album, ‘GOLDEN’, in November 2023.
Also, he plans to go on a solo tour as multiple clues are pointing to it. Moreover, we may see him participate in BTS FESTA 2025 celebrations as members have returned just in time to celebrate their 12th debut anniversary.
