Jungkook’s hit solo single “Seven” has earned a nomination for Song of the Summer at the 2023 MTV VMAs, and fans couldn’t be happier. The announcement was made through the VMAs’ official social media accounts on his birthday, September 1.
The VMAs shared the news with a post saying, “Congrats, Jung Kook. ‘Seven’ is nominated for Song of Summer at the 2023 #VMAs.” They also reminded fans that voting would open on MTV’s Instagram Stories starting September 7.
“Seven” has been a major success since the day it was released. Its catchy sound, smooth vocals, and easy summer vibe helped it stand out instantly. The song also made a historic debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a huge milestone for Jungkook as a soloist. It continued breaking records on streaming platforms and collected millions of plays within days.
The nomination reflects how big the song has become worldwide. “Seven” has been everywhere—radio, social media, charts, and playlists—so its place in the Song of the Summer category feels well deserved. Plus, fans have worked nonstop to promote the song, stream it, and share it across platforms.
The 2023 VMAs ceremony is set for September 12 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. It will be a star-packed show with performances from Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Demi Lovato, Stray Kids, and TXT with Anitta. Nicki Minaj will host the event, and Shakira will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The nomination comes during a very busy time for Jungkook. After releasing “Seven,” he performed live at Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series and talked openly about how he knew the song was special as soon as he heard it.
He has also shared that more solo music, including a digital single and a full album, is on the way.
