Jungwoo has officially announced his solo release, “Sugar,” out this month. The NCT member will give a special treat to fans before pausing all activities for 1.5 years due to military service.
His solo debut is hardly a surprise as it was previously repeatedly confirmed by Korean media outlets and SM Entertainment.
On November 24 at midnight, SM Entertainment dropped the first teaser for Jungwoo’s upcoming release, “Sugar,” on all social media platforms. With the release of this single, he will become the 9th member of NCT to debut as a solo artist.
The teaser includes phrases such as “Sweet all mine, Starlight melts inside my mouth, Shining like your scent surrounds.” Jungwoo will drop his debut solo single, “Sugar,” this Friday, November 28, 2025.
This will be his first official and final solo release before he enlists in the military on December 8 as an Army band member. His bandmate Doyoung will enlist on the same day but will be assigned a different unit once he completes basic training.
Jungwoo has built a solid musical career through his activities with NCT and his work on various collaborations and soundtrack projects. He officially debuted in 2018 with NCT U, and later that year became a member of NCT 127. In 2023, he joined the vocal trio NCT DoJaeJung and released the unit’s first EP, Perfume.
Alongside his group activities, Jungwoo has taken part in several special songs and OSTs that show a different side of his voice. In 2021, he performed “Goodbye” with Girls’ Generation’s Sunny and NCT Dream’s Renjun for an SMTOWN winter album.
In 2024, he joined other members for the NCT U soundtrack “Do It (Let’s Play)” made for the NCT Zone game. He also released two solo OSTs that year: “Smile Good Bye” for Fubao and Grandfather Season 2 and “First Step” for the drama Check-in Hanyang.
Meanwhile, Jungwoo now prepares to drop his debut single, “Sugar,” on November 28 and will hold two sessions of fan meeting, “Golden Sugar Time,” on the same day.
