JYP Entertainment is preparing to take K-pop into uncharted territory. Partnering with its tech subsidiary Blue Garage, The two companies are working on an AI artist that combines music, technology, and fan communication in a way that has never been done before.
The project is being described as an “unprecedented attempt” to redefine how fans and artists connect.
Unlike existing virtual idols (PLAVE, nævis), this AI project is designed to explore whether artificial intelligence can build genuine relationships with fans. The goal is not just to make a virtual idol but to see if an AI can interact with fans on a personal level — even remembering their names and talking to them directly.
As younger generations like Gen Z and Gen Alpha grow more comfortable with virtual connections, JYP wants to create an artist who feels both high-tech and rooted in K-pop culture.
Blue Garage’s co-CEO Jeong Min Jong described this unique project, saying, “This is the first attempt to recreate the very essence of entertainment through AI. By combining JYP’s unparalleled creative and fan capabilities with AI innovation, we will present a new future for global K-content.”
To build this AI artist, Blue Garage is hiring across 17 different fields. The positions cover everything from writing scenarios, producing music, and marketing to technical areas such as 3D modeling, UX design, and LLM (large language model) development. The company says it will provide performance-based pay and an environment that encourages creativity, growth, and innovation.
Blue Garage was set up by JYP as a technology arm of the company. It already runs the global fan platform FANS and has been developing new services that connect fans, from digital communities to merchandise and commerce. Using JYP’s artist IP, Blue Garage has become a key player in pushing K-pop forward through the mix of entertainment and technology.
Now, with the creation of an AI artist, JYP and Blue Garage are aiming to take the next big step. By combining K-pop’s cultural identity with artificial intelligence, they hope to open a new chapter in how artists and fans around the world connect.
