The upcoming K-pop horror thriller Perfect Girl has officially finished filming this month.
On December 19, production company Johnny Bros announced, “We have finally wrapped up filming on ‘Perfect Girl.’” Principal photography took place in Thailand, beginning in late October this year and concluding in December.
The film is now entering post-production and is expected for a 2026 release, although an official date has not yet been confirmed.
“Perfect Girl” is a psychological thriller set against the intense world of K-pop. The story follows a high-stakes competition to debut a new girl group, where only four members can make the final lineup.
Just one week before the selection is finalized, a mysterious and highly skilled new trainee appears. Her arrival sets a chain of violent and disturbing events and turns the competition into a fight for survival. The film has been described as blending the tension of “Scream” with the psychological depth of “Black Swan.”
One of the biggest talking points is the Perfect Girl cast. Jeon Somi takes on the lead role, her first-ever acting project. She is joined by several well-known K-pop idols, including Nancy of MOMOLAND, Siyoon, and Chaerin.
The film also features an international lineup of actors. Arden Cho, who is also serving as a producer, stars in a lead role and is known to K-pop fans as the voice of Rumi in Netflix’s “KPop Demon Hunters.”
May Hong, who voiced Mira in the same Netflix project, is also part of the cast. Additional actors include Adeline Rudolph, John Harlan Kim, and veteran Korean actor Lee Jae Yoon. Thai singer and actress Achiraya Nitibhon and actor Samantha Cochran also appear.
Filipino-Canadian dancer and singer AC Bonifacio was originally part of the cast but had to exit the production in November after suffering a humerus fracture in an accident. Her role was later recast.
Music and performance are expected to be central to the film’s appeal. The soundtrack includes six original songs, with production handled by well-known producer Teddy’s agency, THEBLACKLABEL. Jeon Somi, a solo artist under THEBLACKLABEL, is also set to contribute an original track.
From a production standpoint, “Perfect Girl” is an English-language co-production between South Korea and the United States. Bangkok-based Benetone Films is executive producing, while Fearfolks will handle distribution in Thailand.
The project is also backed by major producers, including Badlands and Thunder Road Films, the company behind the “John Wick” franchise. Sales agents are currently seeking broader global distribution.
Johnny Bros shared its expectations for the project, saying the film combines “K-pop’s content production expertise with Hollywood’s film production capabilities.” They added that it aims to send “a new signal for global entertainment.”
