BTS, BLACKPINK, and SEVENTEEN are major influences in the K-pop industry as a whole.
In 2025, ARMYs will welcome BTS back in mid-year, while CARATs will bid farewell to SEVENTEEN as they depart for military service. In addition, BLINKs can look forward to an exciting year ahead as BLACKPINK makes a comeback as a full group this year.
BTS paused group activities in December 2022, so fans will get to see the OT7 lineup resume activities this year. BLACKPINK began solo activities after concluding their world tour “Born Pink” in late 2023. SEVENTEEN is engaged in group activities sans Jeonghan and Jun.
BTS Reunion and Comeback Plans
BTS suspended group activities when Jin enlisted in the military in December 2022 followed by J-Hope in April 2023. Both BTS members completed their military service last year and currently stay connected with fans through various fun content.
In 2025, the remaining BTS members will finish their military service
- RM and V – June 10
- Jimin and Jungkook – June 11
- Suga – June 22
On multiple occasions, BTS members and BIGHIT MUSIC have hyped and hinted at the group’s 2025 plans. However, HYBE’s CFO Lee Kyung Joon revealed during the 3Q financial performance press conference in November 2024 that the group might make a comeback in 2026.
Later, it was reported that members will resume solo activities right away in June and make a group comeback in 2026. Then, BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed that they are still discussing post-military plans with members and share once confirmed.
Additionally, it’s the 10th anniversary of their “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” series, which helped make them global stars. Fans are excited to see how BTS will celebrate this milestone as they reunite after their military service.
Despite being on hiatus, six out of seven BTS members including BTS V, J-Hope, RM, Jungkook, Jimin, and Jin all dropped solo music. In addition, rapper and BTS member SUGA was embroiled in a drunk driving controversy in September 2024 when he was stopped by police when riding an electric scooter drunk with a blood alcohol level of 0.227%.
BTS remained in the news despite not making any public appearances or participating in promotional activities. Whether or not the group will make a group comeback, fans are excited to see them back in the spotlight in June.
SEVENTEEN’s Military Service
While BTS returns to civilian life, SEVENTEEN will head to military service this year. After S.Coups received military service exemption, Jeonghan was the first member to enlist in September 2024.
The remaining members’ military service plans are still under wraps, and it is not confirmed if they will all enlist together following the footsteps of BTS.
Jeonghan, born in 1995, has already begun his alternative service. Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi, all born in 1996, will enlist one by one to fulfill their military duties.
SEVENTEEN played a vital role in filling the void left by BTS within their parent company, HYBE. As a key artist driving sales, their upcoming military service will undoubtedly have a considerable impact on HYBE’s performance.
Before suspending activities, SEVENTEEN has a jam-packed schedule in the coming months, with a world tour and comeback from BSS. In addition, Woozi and Hoshi will form a subunit and release brand-new music.
BLACKPINK Reunion
YG Entertainment’s profit significantly declined in 2024 when BLACKPINK members did not participate in any group activities. Yang Hyun Suk, YG’s General Producer, made a promising announcement last July that 2025 would be a big year for the label. Following their contract renewal with YG, BLACKPINK will reunite for a comeback and world tour this year.
Rosé, now with THE BLACK LABEL, made history as the first K-pop female artist to rank 8th on the Billboard HOT 100 with her song “APT.” from her debut full-length album.
Jennie founded a personal label and dominated domestic and international charts with her single “Mantra” in October 2024. She is set to release a new solo album this year, which she’s described as “a buffet for everyone”.
Lisa, who established LLOUD and partnered with RCA Records, released three singles last year. Pre-orders for her debut full-length album “ALTER EGO” began last month, with an official release date set for February 28.
Jisoo signed three acting projects and is currently filming her upcoming drama while working on solo music.
