A short clip of KATSEYE’s Manon Bannerman recently went viral. In it, she appears visibly upset while talking to fellow member Megan. Many viewers interpreted the clip as evidence that she was in conflict with the other members. As a result, rumors of tension and a possible internal rift within KATSEYE began to spread rapidly.
Manon cleared things up right away. She explained that her reaction had nothing to do with Megan or any of the members. Instead, she was upset because a grown man in the crowd had been aggressively pushing people, including children, just to get autographs he could resell. On Weverse, she addressed the rumors directly, writing:
“Lmao friends.
The girls aren’t fighting! I was really upset because there was a grown man in the crowd who was not even a fan, just shoving people including kids to get autographs he could resell later.”
“Your safety is number one always.”
To lighten the mood and shut down lingering rumors, Manon and member Lara Raj later posted a playful TikTok using a dolphin meme. They added a friendly photo of themselves with a message that basically said they were totally fine. The clip blew up and earned millions of views and plenty of praise from fans for their humor and honesty.
Fans who rewatched the original video also noted that you can faintly see Manon saying “someone shoved them” and “that’s not safe,” which matched what she explained afterward.
The moment happened during KATSEYE’s “Beautiful Chaos” tour, which kicked off in November to promote their second EP. Despite how quickly the clip spread, Manon’s explanation calmed most concerns.
This situation also fits into a bigger pattern that the group has been dealing with. KATSEYE members have talked openly about receiving intense online hate. This includes racist and sexist messages and even death threats that targeted not only them but sometimes their families. Lara described it as “jarring,” while Manon said it has been “terrorising on the mind.”
Even with the pressure, the members say they have grown even closer. In a recent interview, they talked about how living and working together has strengthened their friendship. One member joked that their bond is “such a mess” in the best way, but they also emphasized how real and honest their sisterhood is.
Despite all the drama and misinformation, KATSEYE continues to rise. They have received two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop/Duo Group Performance.
