The new reports about Kep1er disbandment have left fans heartbroken, the talented K-pop girl group formed through the 2021 reality show Girls Planet 999, is set to disband in July.
Despite their rapid rise to fame and devoted fan base, contract extension talks between the group’s management agency, WakeOne, and the members’ individual agencies have unfortunately fallen through, leading to the difficult decision to disband.
As per an exclusive report by Star News on April 25, Kep1er members will return to their individual agencies in July. Before that, they will say goodbye to their fans with a final comeback.
Kepler, who debuted with the mini-album FIRST IMPACT in January 2022, will be wrapping up their journey of 2 years and 6 months in July 2024.
Previously, top executives from all members’ agencies gathered last year to explore the possibility of extending the group’s contract. Subsequently, WakeOne, the group’s agency, announced prior to the contract’s expiration that they’re committed to ongoing discussions to extend activities.
Had the contract negotiations been successful, it would be the first time an idol group created through an audition program extended its contract. Both WakeOne and Kepler members’ agencies were optimistic about extending their activities as much as possible. Sadly, they recently chose not to continue with the extensions.
Before disbanding, Kepler is gearing up to drop their debut Japanese full-length album Kep1going on May 8.
