Korean trot singer Kim Ho Joong was involved in a car accident with a taxi in Sinsa-dong, Seoul on the night of May 9, around 11:40 pm.
He allegedly fled the scene after the collision. On May 14, it was reported that the police have launched an investigation into Kim Ho Joong for hit-and-run charges.
His manager turned himself in and claimed he was the driver.
It was revealed that the manager was wearing Kim Ho Joong’s clothes when he surrendered to the police. Previously, the 32-year-old trot singer denied allegations of switching drivers.
He was formally charged by police two days after the incident and is under investigation for violating traffic laws by fleeing the scene of an accident.
The controversy surrounding his alleged hit-and-run is escalating due to suspicions that he tried to cover up his involvement by having his manager, Mr. A, take the blame.
Mr. A, a man in his 30s, surrendered to police around 2 a.m. on May 10, claiming he was the driver, but after further investigation, police confirmed that Kim Ho Joong was indeed the driver.
His agency, Think Entertainment, claimed that his manager took responsibility and turned himself in.
Kim Ho Joong then went to the police station for questioning and took a breathalyzer test. The agency says they’re waiting for the investigation results.
However, suspicions of driver switching are growing since it was discovered that the manager wore Kim Ho Joong’s clothes to the police station.”
His side denies the hit-and-run allegations, claiming that after the accident, he stopped his car in an alley and spoke to his manager, while the taxi driver reported the incident to the police.
Despite the controversy, his agency intends to proceed with his scheduled performances as planned.
