After swooning viewers with heartwarming romance dramas, Kim Hye Yoon and Lee Jong Won are officially confirmed to lead a horror thriller.

On April 15, it was officially confirmed that Lee Jong Won and Kim Hye Yoon will star in the new horror mystery movie “A Place to Kill” (tentative title).

Following her breakout roles in “Extraordinary You” and “Lovely Runner”, Kim earned the title of “Rom-com queen”. Now, she will shift gears and ditch the cute, adorable image for the new role.

On the other hand, Lee scored his first lead role in ENA’s romance drama “Brewing Love” opposite Lee Sejeong. His chemistry, charisma, striking look, and acting skills were praised widely by the fans. Now, both acclaimed Kdrama stars are reuniting for a horror film.

“A Place to Kill” Plot

A film crew’s routine shoot takes a dark turn when they capture an unidentified figure on camera at a Salmokji reservoir. As they dig deeper, they encounter something sinister and mysterious lurking deep in the water.

The movie takes place at Salmokji reservoir, a real place in Korea that’s known for its chilling stories and unsettling vibe. It’s based on actual Korean folklore and scary tales that have been around for ages. The movie uses these stories to create a mix of psychological horror and suspense.

“A Place to Kill” is helmed by director Lee Sang Min, a rising talent in Korean cinema known for his award-winning short films. The production company, The Lamp, has a track record of successful films, such as “Escape”, “Samjin Company English Class”, and “A Taxi Driver”.

“A Place to Kill” starring Kim Hye Yoon and Lee Jong Won is scheduled to begin filming in May. The release date has not officially been announced, however, it is expected to be released sometime in 2026.
