Disney+’s upcoming series Delusion, starring Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, has come under fire after reports surfaced that its production team left trash behind on a filming site in Jeju Island.
The Delusion incident is the latest in a string of disputes over poor management on filming sets. In recent years, ENA’s Tell Me That You Love Me and Netflix’s Mr. Plankton faced similar criticism for littering, while JTBC’s The Atypical Family was accused of causing disruptions at a hospital during the shooting. Squid Game 2 also came under scrutiny for reports of staff mistreatment at Incheon Airport.
Trash Dumping Sparks Outrage
A video recently circulated online showing piles of garbage scattered in a forest area where the series had been filming. Among the discarded items were everyday waste and even butane gas canisters. The issue drew further attention when a coffee holder printed with the lead actors’ faces was spotted.
The netizen who first uploaded the footage criticized the carelessness of the team, writing, ‘Do fans know about this? This is how they’re treated after filming a drama – being abandoned in the forest like this. I really have nothing to say.’
Production Team Responds
Once the controversy grew, the Delusion production staff issued an official apology on August 28.
Since filming ended late and it was dark, we didn’t get to thoroughly clean up the site. Once we became aware of the situation, we apologized to the filming site and related authorities and immediately cleaned up the waste. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by not properly wrapping up the site after filming, and we promise to be more careful in the future.
