Kim Seon Ho underwent a significant transformation to prepare for his role as Director Choi in Disney+’s new series, The Tyrant.

In an interview with a media outlet, the 38-year-old actor got candid about how he prepared for his role in the new drama. Kim’s outstanding performance has earned him widespread critical acclaim.

He prepared hard to embrace the character of Director Choi and underwent a strict diet and workout regimen. The Start Up actor ended up losing around 7 kilograms for the role.

Kim Seon Ho confessed he was not asked by Director Park Hoon Jung to lose weight but voluntarily lost 7kg to get into character. He made this decision independently, after carefully reading the script and determining that weight loss was necessary to accurately portray the role.

He also hinted at the possibility of his character ‘Director Choi’ returning for The Tyrant season 2, saying, “I think there will be a flashback or one scene in Season 2.”

The mini-series The Tyrant follows a group of individuals vying for control of the last remaining sample of the Tyrant Program, a superhuman genetic drug that goes missing after a delivery mishap.

At the center of the chaos is Director Choi, portrayed by Kim Seon Ho, a ruthless and ambitious elite agent who has risen through the ranks to become the youngest director of the National Intelligence Service.

As the mastermind behind the Tyrant Program, Director Choi will stop at nothing to protect his creation from falling into the wrong hands.

Following the release of The Tyrant on August 14, Kim Seon Ho has a busy lineup with three dramas and a potential movie role in the works.
