The crown of the most-watched Korean content has been passed to the Queen of Tears!
The drama Queen of Tears, starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, takes the top spot as Netflix’s most popular Korean content this year.
Netflix published its bi-annual engagement report on September 19, detailing the platform’s most-watched content between January and June. The report tracks member engagement, revealing top content with over 50,000 viewing hours, accumulated from approximately 94 billion hours of global watch time.
Here’s a rewritten version:
Three Korean dramas made a strong impression, securing spots in Netflix’s top 10 non-English content:
- ‘Queen of Tears’ – 29 million viewers
- ‘Parasyte: The Gray’ – 25 million viewers
- ‘My Demon’ – 17.7 million viewers
Queen of Tears accumulated 682,600,000 watch hours, while Parasyte: The Grey followed with 126,800,000 hours, and My Demon had 311,200,000 hours.
Additionally, Doctor Slump garnered 14 million viewers, standing out as a beloved non-English romance series.
Not to mention, Queen of Tears became the highest-rated tvN drama, outperforming Crash Landing on You and Goblin.
In the non-English category, it ranked third following behind Berlin: Season 1 and The Asunta Case.
Thanks to the undeniable chemistry between Kim Ji Won and Kim Soo Hyun, it became one of the most loved Kdramas of all time both domestically and internationally.
On another note, the leading cast of the hit Kdrama is already busy with their next ventures after its conclusion in April. Kim Soo Hyun has begun filming his next drama Knock Off and Kim Ji Won has yet to finalize her next project.
