Lee Hyeri is speaking out about her cryptic Instagram post, which she shared earlier this year when rumors emerged about her ex-boyfriend Ryu Jun Yeol’s new relationship with Han Sohee.
The Girl’s Day member is currently promoting her upcoming movie, Victory, scheduled to hit theaters on August 14. The movie had an international premiere at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) on July 12.
On August 7, during a promotional interview with the Korean media outlet, Hyeri was asked about her ‘It’s fun’ Instagram post when the rumors of Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri first emerged.
Looking back on her cryptic Instagram post, she shared her fears about her personal life being discussed more than the movie, stating, “I have no more to say. I am worried that people will be more interested in my personal life than the movie Victory, which I love so much.”
Hyeri further clarified her ‘It’s fun’ comment, saying, “At that time, If I think back to that time, it was the heart and thoughts of the real human being Lee Hyeri.”
Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol ended their 8-year-long relationship in November 2023. In March 2024, he was spotted with actress Han Sohee in Hawaii, and they later confirmed their dating rumors before initially denying them.
Han Sohee and Ryu Jun Yeol received a lot of backlash for dating, accused of cheating, and many called their romance a fling. Just 2 weeks after publicly dating, Sohee broke up with Ryu Jun Yeol after he refused to clarify rumors.
Previously, Ryu Jun Yeol also shared his thoughts on the dating controversy with Han Sohee at the production presentation of The 8 Show.
On another note, Hyeri’s uplifting new movie, Victory is about a group of young women who start a cheerleading club in 1999 on Geojedo Island, South Korea.
They’re called the “Millennium Girls” and they’re passionate about spreading joy and energy through their dance and music. The film tells their story and shows how they bring their community together. It comes out on August 14.
