Lee Jae Wook and Choi Sung Eun are set to lead Last Summer, a new KBS 2TV weekend drama premiering in November. The series is described as a “remodeling romance,” following childhood friends who uncover the truth about their first love, long hidden inside Pandora’s box.

In Last Summer, Lee Jae Wook takes on dual roles, portraying twin brothers Baek Do Ha and Baek Do Young. Do Ha is a gifted architect who grew up in the United States after his parents’ divorce, while his brother Do Young remained in Korea.

Each summer, Do Ha spends only 21 days in Korea, where he shares time with Do Young and Song Ha Kyung, the daughter of his father’s friend, at a unique “peanut house” built by their father. However, an incident two years ago irreversibly altered their once inseparable bond.

Lee, who has built a strong portfolio with works including the Alchemy of Souls series, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, and Extraordinary You, will once again highlight his romantic acting.

Choi Sung Eun stars as Song Ha Kyung, a civil servant in the architecture department. She dreams of leaving her hometown of Patanmyeon but carries lingering emotions tied to her summers with Do Ha.

Their youthful bickering eventually develops into deeper feelings, though his limited time in Korea complicates their relationship. As an adult, Ha Kyung faces shock and resentment when she learns of a painful secret involving the twin brothers.

Choi is praised for her versatile performances in The Sound of Magic and Beyond Evil.

The series is directed by Min Yeon Hong, recognized for his previous works including The Impossible Heir, Missing: The Other Side, and Insider. Screenwriter Jeon Yoo Ri, recognized for her romantic storytelling in Kiss Sixth Sense and Radio Romance, pens the script.

This marks Lee Jae Wook’s second collaboration with Min Yeon Hong after The Impossible Heir and Jeon Yoo Ri after Kiss Sixth Sense.

The production team stated,

Expectations are already high for the romantic chemistry between trusted actors Lee Jae Wook and Choi Sung Eun. We ask for viewers’ interest and support for Last Summer, which is filled not only with the romance between the two main characters but also with diverse episodes featuring the unique theme of architecture—a subject rarely explored in dramas—and the stories of the surrounding characters.

Last Summer, produced by Monster Union and Slingshot Studio, will premiere on KBS2 in November.
