Lee Jae Wook is set to take on a new role as a plastic surgeon in an upcoming webtoon-based drama.
The 26-year-old actor appeared in the Disney Original “Impossible Heir” and finished filming Netflix’s “Dear Hongrang”.
Now, he is eyeing his next project, which is a webtoon-based drama “HODL Doctor” (literal doctor). The webtoon series premiered on Kakao Webtoon in February 2022 and is currently ongoing.
According to OSEN on March 21, Lee Jae Wook received an offer to join the cast of “HODL Doctor” and, after careful consideration, has decided to take on the role.
“HODL Doctor” tells the story of Do Ji Eui, a talented plastic surgeon. Do leaves his comfortable life to work as a public health doctor on a remote island called Pyeondong-do. The island is known for being harsh and unforgiving, and everyone tries to avoid it. As he navigates his new life on the island, he meets all kinds of patients and residents.
Director Lee Myung Woo, who previously directed the popular SBS drama ‘The Fiery Priest’ (Season 1) and Coupang Play’s ‘Boyhood’, will be leading the production.
Lee Jae Wook made his acting debut in the 2018 tvN drama ‘Memories of the Alhambra’. Following his breakout success in the 2022 tvN series ‘Alchemy of Souls’, he has been busy with various projects, including presenting Disney+’s ‘The Impossible Heir’, ‘Extraordinary You’, ‘Death’s Game’, and more’.
He is preparing for his first regular entertainment show, ‘Fresh Off The Sea’’, which is slated to air this year. Currently, ‘HODL Doctor’ is in the process of casting key roles. As per reports, Lee Jae Wook is already on board and finalizing its production schedule.
Meanwhile, Lee Jae Wook will star in Netflix’s ‘Dear Hongrang’, a period mystery drama about a missing son who returns home with no memory of loss. It is scheduled to premiere in the 2Q of this year (April to June).
