Plot Overview
Typhoon Family follows chaebol heir Kang Tae-poong (Lee Junho), whose life takes a 360° turn after the 1997 IMF crisis. Before the crisis, Tae-poong was part of Apgujeong’s “Orange Tribe,” a nickname given to rich and fashionable young people from Seoul’s Apgujeong district in the 1990s. He lives carefree, surrounded by luxury and friends.
When the 1997 financial crisis hit South Korea, Tae Poong’s comfortable life changed overnight. His father passes away, leaving behind the family’s trading company on the brink of collapse. Thrust into responsibility, Tae Poong becomes the new CEO of Typhoon Trading Company. He must abandon his privileged lifestyle and learn what it takes to protect his father’s legacy while saving the company from ruin.
Alongside him is Oh Mi Seon (Kim Min Ha), a meticulous and hardworking bookkeeper. As the eldest daughter of her family, she has always carried heavy responsibilities. Despite her difficult situation, Mi Seon dreams of building a career for herself.
