“I wonder how all these heroes juggle beating up the bad guys, while keeping a family and holding down a job” — this single question from Cashero‘s trailer captures the series’ premise.
Netflix is set to release a superhero story that’s both revolutionary and painfully relatable. Starring Lee Junho and Kim Hye Jun, Cashero is set to release later this month. Lee is returning after the success of Typhoon Family, which ended on November 30. His fans have a lot to look forward to as he makes his acting comeback in less than a month and is approached for Veteran 3.
He is joined by the rising K-drama actress, Kim Hye Jun, who rose to fame with Disney+’s A Shop For Killers. She is currently shooting the second season of A Shop For Killers, slated for 2026.
Before that, both K-drama stars will meet viewers with this unique superhero drama, Cashero.
Cashero Release Date
Cashero, starring Lee Junho and Kim Hye Jun, will premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 26, a day after Christmas. It presents a world where saving the day has a literal price tag.
Lee Junho, celebrated for his regal turn in The Red Sleeve and charming role in King the Land, transforms into Kang Sang Woong. Kang is an ordinary civil servant whose new powers are tied directly to his bank balance. The series, adapted from a popular Kakao Webtoon, asks a profound question in a genre known for fantastical wealth: What if being a hero broke the bank?
Plot Overview
The genius of Cashero comes from the way it flips superhero logic on its head. Kang Sang Woong (Lee Junho) is not a billionaire genius or a cosmic warrior. He is a regular guy working at a community center, trying to save up for a home and his upcoming marriage to his level-headed girlfriend, Kim Min Suk (played by Kim Hye Jun).
His power couldn’t be more painful: his physical strength rises and falls based on the amount of cash he’s carrying. Every hit he lands, every enemy he faces, literally drains his savings. Director Lee Chang Min has emphasized that Cashero was intentionally made to feel different from the Marvel-style blueprint. It leans more into a grounded, “reality-oriented” approach where money stress is the true villain.
Cast Lineup
- Kang Sang Woong (Lee Junho): The “Cash Hero.” An ordinary civil servant whose strength equals the cash in his hand. The former 2PM member is known for his performances in King The Land, The Red Sleeve, and Typhoon Family.
- Kim Min Suk (Kim Hye Jun): Sang Woong’s girlfriend. A math-savvy realist who calculates the cost of his heroics. Kim’s notable acting credits include A Shop For Killers and Connect.
- Byeon Ho In (Kim Byung Chul): A lawyer whose powers activate only when he drinks alcohol. Kim Byung Chul has an impressive acting portfolio which includes Squid Game S3, All of Us Are Dead, Goblin, and Mr. Sunshine.
- Bang Eun Mi (Kim Hyang Gi): A telekinetic whose powers are fueled by her caloric intake. Kim Hyang Gi has previously starred in Salon De Nabi, Secret Playlist, and Sweet Revenge.
- The Antagonists: Sang Woong’s journey draws the attention of the mysterious “Criminal Association”. This group includes the sophisticated siblings Joanna (Kang Han Na) and Jonathan (Lee Chae Min), who represent a threat that values social power (“ability”) as much as supernatural force. Veteran actor Kim Eui Sung rounds out the villains as Jo Won Do.
Cashero Trailer
The new main trailer and poster give a clear sense of the show’s tone. Sang Woong is introduced as a completely relatable hero, shown battered, worn out, and surrounded by flying coins. The tagline, “A cash hero who burns his salary to save others,” perfectly sums up the show’s plot.
The trailer opens with Sang Woong and Min Suk panicking as money literally slips away every time he uses his powers.
Despite Min Suk’s practical worries about their future together, Sang Woong keeps getting pulled into danger. He becomes entangled with the Korean Coalition of Superheroes and the Criminal Association. The villain, Joanna, captures the show’s sharp social commentary when she says, “Do you know what’s stronger than superpowers in modern society? It’s power.”

Creative Team
Cashero is helmed by director Lee Chang Min (Welcome to Waikiki and Monthly Magazine Home) and Fates & Furies writers Lee Jae In and Jeon Chan Ho. Adapted from the original webtoon by Team Befar, the production is a collaboration between SLL and Drama House Studio.
