The star-studded K-drama “S-Line” has earned international recognition.
The drama took home the Best Music Award in the Feature-Length Competition category at the 8th Cannes International Series Festival. It boasts a powerhouse cast including Lee Soo Hyuk, Lee Da Hee, and Oh My Girl’s Arin.
On the evening of April 29 (local time), the drama “S-Line” was awarded Best Music at Canneseries 2025 held at the prestigious Lumière Grand Theater in Cannes, France. This marks only the second time in history that a Korean drama has won a major award at the festival, following “Bargain”’s Best Screenplay win in 2023.
As the sole Korean entry in this year’s competition category, “S-Line” beat an acclaimed international series to win this award.
Other series competed at the prestigious festival included “A Better Man”, “L/OVER”, “Dead End”, “Nepobaby”, “How to Kill Your Sister”, and more. This achievement is particularly meaningful as it is the first Korean drama to win the ‘Best Music’ award at the Cannes Series. The cast members Lee Soo Hyuk, Arin, Lee Da Hee, Lee Eun Saem, and Nam Kyu Hee as well as screenwriter and director Ahn Joo Young attended the event.
The awarding body expressed, “We were very interested in the music of ‘S-Line’ because it expressed the emotional connection to the story in a new and fresh way.”
Music Director Lee Jun Oh said, “I’m deeply honored to have received the music award at Canneseries. We worked on ‘S-Line’ in a very free and creative environment. I’m grateful to Director Ahn Joo Young and production company Sidus for trusting us with the project. I’d like to share this joy with composer Son Jeong, who collaborated with me on the music.”
The official screening held a day before the awards was a huge success and received a warm response from the audience. The 2,000-seat Lumiere Grand Theater was packed, and the audience gave a standing ovation and showered the work with praise.
The award-winning series “S Line” presents a fictional scenario where visible red lines appear above people’s heads, connecting individuals who have had sexual relationships.
Canneseries 2025 took place from April 24 to April 29, 2025, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes. This 8th season of the Cannes International Series Festival featured a diverse range of series from around the world, with various competitions, screenings, and events for both industry professionals and series enthusiasts.
