The most loved Kdrama stars at the moment are coming together for the next work of “Doctor Cha” writer.
Lee Jung Jae has accepted a leading role in the upcoming drama “Petty Love” after favorably reviewing the script, OSEN reported on November 20.
Furthermore, Maeil Kyungjae reported that Lim Ji Yeon has been tapped as the female lead for “Petty Love.”
“Petty Love” follows the story of a detective actor aspiring to become a melodrama master who falls in love with a talented female political reporter turned entertainment journalist.
Wi Jeong Shin, played by Lim Ji Yeon, is a driven and accomplished journalist whose 8-year tenure in politics is halted when she’s demoted to entertainment department, following her pursuit of a corruption scandal.
Lim Hyun Joon, played by Lee Jung Jae, is a celebrated detective actor eager to break free from his established image. With the upcoming Season 5 of “Good Detective Kang Pil-goo”, Hyun Joon faces mounting stress from being pigeonholed and feels trapped by his repeated portrayal of the same character. He wishes to expand his range into romantic comedies and melodramas.
Acclaimed writer Jung Yeo Rang, behind the smash hit “Doctor Cha,” has teamed up with talented director Kim Ga Ram, who helmed “Good Partner” and “Nevertheless.” Production is overseen by NEW’s Studio & New.
Lim Ji Yeon’s breakout role as Park Yeon Jin in Netflix’s “The Glory” has kept her in the spotlight. The “Squid Game” actor makes his domestic drama comeback after five years, following his stint in JTBC’s “Chief of Staff 2” (2019).
On the work front, Lee Jung Jae will star in the hugely-awaited season 2 of “Squid Game,” out on Netflix on December 26. Meanwhile, Lim Ji Yeon’s first historical drama “The Tale of Lady Ok” is scheduled to broadcast on November 30.
