At her second press conference, while she talked about the breach of trust allegations, reconciliation with HYBE, and NewJeans’ future plans, she also addressed the viral Kakaotalk messages where she’s seen disparging and fat-shaming NewJeans members.
On May 31, she held a second press conference to explain the current situation after winning an injunction against HYBE and share her thoughts on the matter.
At the press briefing, a TV Chosun reporter asked Min Hee Jin about expressing her love for NewJeans but raised the issue of a viral screenshot where she was seen talking negatively about them.
To which, Min replied, “It would take too long to explain,” and added, “Do you remember the Kakaotalk [from] three years ago? That’s what it was about.”
The reporter also asked if she talked to NewJeans about the messages, and she took it rather lightly, saying, “To be honest, what did I actually talk about then? You know the “wow” I replied back to ADOR’s vice-CEO? I don’t remember that.”
She went on to say, “That’s not what’s important, it’s valueless, NewJeans did not contact me because of that.”
Previously, her Kakaotalk messages with deputy leader ‘L’ were exposed during the girls’ preparation for award shows.
In those viral Kakaotalk chats, “I just tell them to always be humble. Even though they are fat like pigs, they are gaining popularity.”
Other alleged messages showed, “They pretend to be cool by saying cool things, but if they don’t actually say hello to me, I think I’ll kill them.” “What do they know? Just look in the mirror.” and continued “They did not get popular because they did well.”
Lastly, NewJeans’ fans criticized Min Hee Jin for using the members as shields and talking behind their backs.
