After FIESTAR, another popular K-pop girl group is reuniting and reviving the group activities.
MOMOLAND went on hiatus in 2023 when they opted out of renewing their contract with MLD Entertainment. After that, fans were devastated by the rumors of the group’s disbandment, thinking they would never see them perform again. However, in late 2023, JooE debunked these rumors, revealing that the members are looking forward to resuming group activities.
On April 10, Maeil Business exclusively reported that MOMOLAND had signed an exclusive contract with Inyeon Entertainment to pursue group activities. Later, an official from the label confirmed that they have signed a group contract with the members.
The media outlet reported that all six members Jane Hyebin, JooE, Nancy, Ahin, and Nayun have completed contract signing with the agency. MOMOLAND members were focusing on individual activities after parting ways with MLD Entertainment in 2023.
Netizens have mixed reactions to their reunion, while some are excited, others have shown not-so-enthusiastic responses. There are comments like
“This would have done numbers in 2020”
“The K-pop resurrection arc just got a new chapter”
“So excited to see Momoland return, their energy is always unmatched”
“Without Yeonwoo Momoland is nothing”
“They deserve it so much, their old company wasted their talent”
“Momoland is coming back to keep 3rd gen alive”
MOMOLAND burst onto the K-pop scene in 2016, however, their journey was not without ups and downs. Originally a six-member group, two new members Taeha and Daisy were added in 2017. The group went through a second lineup shakeup when Yeonwon and Taeha left in 2019 followed by Daisy in 2020.
Since their debut in 20216, they have delivered numerous hits such as “Bboom Bboom”, “I’m So Hot!”, “Wrap Me in Plastic”, “Wonderful Love”, and more.
Meanwhile, Inyeon Entertainment manages many popular artists such as ONLEE, Cyan, and Park Jung Ah. The agency has yet to officially announce their plans for upcoming group activities.
