MONSTA X has officially announced the release of their new mini-album THE X, scheduled for September. The title was revealed on July 27 through the first teaser.
The comeback date has previously been confirmed at the group’s three-day Connect X concert held at Seoul’s KSPO Dome from July 18 to 20. The date was announced on the final night of the event, celebrating their 10th debut anniversary.
MONSTA X will make their comeback after over two years with mini-album ‘THE X’ on September 1, 2025.
This will be their first release with original material in over two years, following their 12th mini-album Reason in January 2023.
The break was due to military service, with members Shownu, Minhyuk, Joohoney, Kihyun, and Hyungwon all completing enlistment. The group has now returned as a full unit, while youngest member I.M is expected to enlist later this year.
On May 14, MONSTA X released NOW Project Vol.1, a digital album of re-recorded fan-favorite songs featuring the complete six-member lineup. The release was part of their anniversary celebration and marked their first project together in nearly two years.
At the Connect X concert, the group performed several hits, including “Beastmode,” “Jealousy,” and “Rush Hour,” backed by a live band for the first time in their career. They also previewed an unreleased track titled “Fire & Ice,” written by Hyungwon, which is expected to be included on THE X. The concert also featured updated stage arrangements and was streamed globally on the final day.
MONSTA X will continue their anniversary tour with two shows in Yokohama at Pia Arena MM on August 27 and 28.
In an earlier press event, Kihyun hinted, “We’re preparing for a comeback… Recording finished quite a while ago.” Joohoney later confirmed, “It’s coming out in September, very early in the month.”
According to their agency, Starship Entertainment, the upcoming mini-album is intended as a thank-you gift to MONBEBEs for supporting the group over the past decade. MONSTA X previously reached international success with their 2020 English-language album All About Luv, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
More details about THE X, including teasers and pre-order information, are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
