Starship Entertainment confirmed on July 29 that MONSTA X member I.M has put all activities on hold after being diagnosed with back pain.
In a statement shared on fan platform Berriz, the agency stated that I.M recently experienced discomfort and sought medical attention.
Following a detailed examination, doctors advised that he take time off to rest and focus on recovery. Due to his condition, the 29-year-old idol missed Waterbomb Busan on July 26 and will also sit out KCON LA on August 2.
A representative from Starship shared, “After a thorough examination, medical professionals recommended that he take time to rest and focus on treatment.” The agency added, “He is currently prioritizing his recovery through both rest and medical care.”
With his health condition currently under treatment, there is growing uncertainty about whether I.M will be able to join MONSTA X’s upcoming CONNECT X concerts, scheduled for August 27–28 in Japan.
They are also gearing up for a comeback after two years with a new mini-album on September 1. The album release will be followed by a packed promotional schedule and performances on music shows. It is unclear if I.M will be part of any of those activities.
The group’s September comeback follows the discharge of Shownu, Joohoney, Minhyuk, Kihyun, and Hyungwon, all of whom have completed their mandatory military service. Particularly, all members reunited after the discharge of Hyungwon in May.
Being the maknae and ‘96 liner, I.M is scheduled to enlist later this year, which means no group activities for another 1.5 years.
While MONBEBEs are looking forward to seeing all the members together, they want I.M to focus on his health and rest for the time being.
Meanwhile, MONSTA X members, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, gear up to make their official comeback on September 1.
