Nam Ji Hyun and Kim Jae Young made waves with their recent hits “Good Partner” and “The Judge From Hell” respectively.
On Wednesday, April 9, Daily Sports exclusively reported that Nam Ji Hyun and Kim Jae Young are tapped to star in the new rom-com drama “New Analects”.
“New Analects” is a romantic comedy that merges the philosophical teachings of the Analects of Confucius with elements of sexual humor. The story follows Yeon Soo, a woman from a conservative upbringing, who encounters a man selling sex toys. Their relationship develops as they navigate their differing backgrounds and grow together.
Nam Ji Hyun plays the role of Yeon Soo, the protagonist who has lived a pure life and works in marketing. Kim Jae Young portrays the president of a sex toy company, who brings a refreshing change to Yeon Soo’s life.
Nam has established herself as a versatile actress since her debut in 2004 with a guest role in “Say You Love Me”. She took on diverse roles in genres like thrillers and historical dramas. Some of her notable works include “Shopping King Louie,” “Suspicious Partner,” “Little Women”, and “100 Days My Prince.”
Her recent SBS drama, “Good Partner,” recorded record-breaking viewership ratings. Her upcoming projects include the historical drama “Dear Bandit”, scheduled to be released this year.
On the other hand, Kim Jae Young, who began her career as a model in 2011, has since transitioned to acting. He has appeared in dramas like “Love in Contract”, “Reflection of You”, and more. Her breakthrough role came last year with the popular JTBC drama “The Judge from Hell,” playing the role of a detective.
In the meantime, the 12-episode romantic comedy-drama “New Analects” is set to premiere on TVING, helmed by director Kim Ye Ji, known for her work on the JTBC one-act drama “The Woman Who Lives in Misfortune.”
The script is being penned by writer Ahn Sae Bom, who previously worked on Disney+’s “Soundtrack #1.” Production preparations are currently underway, with filming slated to begin in the second half of this year.
