NCT DREAM’s Jaemin and Jeno are gearing up for potential new acting roles in the upcoming drama Wind Up.
On September 3, SPOTV News reported that the two idols have been lined up for the cast of the baseball-themed fantasy youth drama. Wind Up tells the story of a high school baseball prospect and a mysterious transfer student whose arrival changes the team’s fate. The series will be directed by Kim Sung Ho, known for the Netflix hit Move to Heaven and the KBS drama Bad Prosecutor.
Their agency, SM Entertainment, later confirmed that both NCT DREAM members were offered roles in the series and are carefully reviewing the opportunity. The release platform for this short-form content has not yet been finalized.
If confirmed, this project would mark Jaemin’s first return to acting in nearly six years since his appearance in JTBC4’s 2019 one-act drama How to Hate You. For Jeno, Wind Up would be his official acting debut, and it will be fun to see how he transitions to a scripted role.
Last year, another NCT member, Jaehyun, debuted as an actor with the film You Will Die in Six Hours, right before military enlistment.
The drama comes at a time when sports-themed youth series are gaining popularity. Following the success of SBS’s The Winning Try, which highlighted the growth of rugby players, viewers are curious whether Wind Up will also win audiences.
While preparing for acting, Jaemin and Jeno remain active as members of NCT DREAM. The group released their fifth full-length album, Go Back To The Future in July. The album topped both domestic and international charts and includes nine tracks, such as the double title songs “BTTF (Back to the Future)” and “CHILLER.”
