NCT’s Doyoung and Jungwoo started their military service today (December 8, 2025), entering the Army Training Center together. They will train side by side for the first few weeks before going their separate ways for active service. Doyoung will continue as an active-duty soldier, while Jungwoo, who passed the audition for the Army Band, will serve there using his vocal background.

SM Entertainment shared that there would be no special events at the enlistment site and reminded fans not to visit since the area is meant for soldiers and their families.

Before enlisting, Jungwoo posted a playful and touching photo on social media. He showed himself with his blond hair freshly cut short and arranged the cut pieces to spell out “Doyoung Jungwoo enlisted.” He also revealed a cake decorated with the message: “Doyoung, Jungwoo, stay healthy and come back, let’s meet again.” He said he enjoyed a small farewell party before heading off.

The night before enlistment, Doyoung and Jungwoo held a joint live broadcast. Doyoung joked with fans to “not go anywhere and continue to love only NCT.” He said he felt even more anxious than the fans and worried about being away.

He added, half jokingly, that fans might be tempted while he is gone: “Please don’t watch our year-end performances too much. Find your favorites within NCT.” Jungwoo also talked about his haircut photo and thanked fans for cheering him on.

With their enlistment, the two become the third and fourth members of NCT 127 to serve in the military. Taeyong enlisted in the Navy last year and will be discharged on December 14. Jaehyun has been serving in the Army Band since November 2024 and will be discharged on May 3 next year. The remaining members of NCT 127 have not enlisted yet.

Both Doyoung and Jungwoo stayed very active before their enlistment. Jungwoo released his first solo single “Sugar” in November and performed it on several music shows. On December 7, he held his first solo fan meeting, “Golden Sugar Time,” and spent meaningful time with fans.

Doyoung made sure there would be plenty of content while he was gone. His new song “Promise” will be released on December 9, one day after enlistment. On December 10, he will appear on Kim Tae Ho’s TEO entertainment show <Thanks Buddy Club> where he shares a meal, opens up emotionally, and talks about the people he appreciates. Throughout fall, he also wrapped up his solo concerts — “Doors” and the encore “Yours.”

In addition to the newest activities, both idols have had long, steady careers within NCT. Doyoung was introduced through SM Rookies in 2015, debuted with NCT U in 2016, and later joined NCT 127 in 2017. He built a strong solo career with the full-length album “Youth” in 2024 and “Soar” in 2025. He even starred in musical theatre, such as “Marie Antoinette” and “The Man Who Laughs.”

Jungwoo joined SM Rookies in 2017, debuted with NCT U in 2018, and joined NCT 127 that same year. He’s known for his steady vocals and bright personality. He hosted “Show! Music Core” for about two years and runs his own web variety program “Nopogy.”

Together with Jaehyun, they formed the popular vocal unit NCT DoJaeJung, who debuted in 2023 with the EP “Perfume.” The unit will naturally pause activities until all three members complete their military service.

For now, NCT 127 will continue promotions with the remaining members, while supporters look forward to the day the team can reunite fully again.
