The announcement came on August 7, 2025, confirming the return of much of the original cast alongside a new addition. Jung Jong Yeon, the creator behind The Devil’s Plan and The Great Escape, introduced a fresh twist to variety shows in 2024 with Agents of Mystery. The show blended escape-room tasks, eerie scenarios, and light comedy.

Agents of Mystery Season 1 Recap

Agents of Mystery debuted in June 2024 and featured a team of six celebrity “agents” tasked with solving fictional paranormal cases within a six-hour time limit. It is set inside massive, film-level sets, with atmospheric lighting, hidden clues, and red herrings.

The first season was split into two missions:

  • “The Followers of the Evil”: The agents infiltrated a satanic cult to rescue kidnapped victims.
  • “The Deep Sea Mystery”: In this case, the cast explored a haunted submarine while facing off against a terrifying, man-made sea creature.

Cast members Lee Yong Jin, John Park, Hyeri, Kim Do Hoon, Karina of aespa, and Lee Eun Ji were praised for their authentic reactions and strong group chemistry.

Fans praised the show’s creativity, detailed sets, and natural team chemistry. While some viewers felt parts of it were too scripted or lacked suspense, the series still built a strong following and left fans asking for more.

What’s New in Agents of Mystery Season 2?

On August 7, Netflix Korea confirmed that Agents of Mystery will return with five of the six original cast members. Lee Eun Ji will not rejoin the cast, but in her place comes Gabee, a well-known dancer from Street Woman Fighter, making her first major variety appearance.

Returning members:

  • Lee Yong Jin – the comic backbone of the team.
  • John Park – rational and logical, often leading strategy.
  • Hyeri – the quick-thinking mood-maker.
  • Kim Do Hoon – known for daring action and reactions.
  • Karina (aespa) – sharp-eyed, analytical, and increasingly confident.

Producer Jung Jong Yeon shared that the cast’s chemistry has “reached new heights.” Jung noted that the cast has grown even closer and teased that Season 2 will deliver bigger challenges, smarter puzzles, and a deeper storyline.

Fans can also expect improved pacing and more original ideas, addressing some of the criticisms from Season 1.

Production & Release Window

Filming is set to begin later this year. While Netflix hasn’t announced an exact release date, the series is likely to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026, in line with the original season’s summer release.

Stay tuned to Netflix for updates on the premiere date and exclusive teasers.
