Netizens Outraged as Taeil Continued NCT 127 Activities After Charged with Sexual Crime in June

Taeil from NCT 127

The recent news surrounding NCT 127 member Taeil has sparked significant outrage among fans and netizens.

After being charged with a sexual crime in June, many are questioning his continued involvement in group activities.

Speculation is swirling about the nature of the sexual crime the 30-year-old K-pop star allegedly committed. Fans were even more taken aback to learn that the investigation had been ongoing since June.

On August 29, the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul confirmed that they received a report from a woman, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by Taeil in June. Following the report, Taeil has been charged and is currently undergoing investigation.

This is particularly shocking since Taeil remained active with NCT 127 in July, participating in the release of their 6th full-length album WALK during that time. Some fans feel betrayed, believing he concealed the fact that he was charged with a sexual crime while continuing to work with the team.

Besides that, he attended the 8th debut anniversary fanmeeting, 8ECRET INVITATION with the group, earlier this month.

Taeil has been on hiatus since August last year due to a motorcycle accident on August 15, which resulted in a fractured right thigh requiring surgery.

As a result, he missed several NCT 127 activities, including promotions for the album ‘Fact Check’ (released October 6, 2023), the group’s 3rd solo concert (November 2023), and offline promotions for the album ‘WALK’ (released July 15, 2024), including music broadcasts

However, he recently made a return at the ‘2024 NCT 127 8th ANNIVERSARY FANMEETING’ held on August 3-4 at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul.

This has sparked outrage that SM Entertainment and Taeil were covering up the incident for thenpast two months. Despite the severity of the offense, the agency let him participate in group activities.

Following the decision to withdraw Taeil from the group, SM Entertainment and NCT members unfollowed his social media accounts.
